Australia: Assange win, emission pushback, detention controversy

The federal government is softening some of its proposed emission standards after strong pushback from car companies and a strong opposition campaign.

Plans to rush surprise legislation through Parliament to jail immigration detainees has been criticised and the Socceroos are a step closer to qualifying for the World Cup after a five-nil win over Lebanon.
