Judges Tina Makareti and Harry Ricketts selected these five stand-outs among almost 1,500 stories entered into the competition.

Harry and Tina told Kathryn the winning stories were "inventive and moving" and demonstrated "a lot of heart and a lot of skill".
The winning stories will be adapted for radio and broadcast on Nine to Noon in November.
