The former Minneapolis police officer on trial for the murder of George Floyd has been found guilty of second degree murder. Derek Chauvin knelt on George Floyd's neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds last May. He pleaded not guilty charges including second-degree murder.
The footage of Derek Chauvin, who is white, with his knee on the neck of African American, George Floyd, sparked global protests and condemnation of racism and intensified the committent of the Black Live Matters movement.
Regardless of this morning's verdict, cities around the US are bracing for renewed protests. We cross to US correspondent, Giles Gibson
