Grammy award-winning mariachi musician Mireya Ramos joins Kathryn in the Wellington studio for a chat, some songs and a live performance ahead of her gig at the Wellington Jazz Festival on Sunday.  Miraya, of Mexican and Dominican Republic descent was on the final stage of a world tour when she was marooned in New Plymouth after performing with her quintet Flor de Toloache at WOMAD in March. She has performed at Madison Square Gardens and recorded with the likes of John Legend, Harry Connick Jnr and the Pretender's Chrissie Hynde.  Flor de Toloache, (which refers to a love potion) formed in 2008, the first female-only mariachi band in New York.
