Contact tracing expert Professor Philip Hill is warning the government must be very careful before it decides to drop the strict Covid-19 alert level down to level 3.

Yesterday the Ministry of Health admitted  'gold standard' contact tracing is around a week away. Already serious concerns around the speed of  contact tracing systems in place have led to an urgent independent audit being commissioned.

It is yet to be released. Contact tracing expert Philip Hill is the McAuley Professor of International Health, Co-Director, of the Centre for International Health, at the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, at Otago Medical School, and Co-Director, of the Otago Global Health Institute.

Also with us is Mick Roberts from Massey University, a Professor in Mathematical Biology who has published over a hundred papers on modelling epidemics.
