Campaigners fighting against the use of surgical mesh say no one from the Government has spoken to them about an apparent back-track on its election promise to set up a mesh register.

This week the director-general of health Ashley Bloomfield told parliament's health select committee that a register to track patients who have been harmed by mesh implants would be too expensive and take too much time.

That's despite a cost benefit analysis report by Deloitte last year, finding that a full registry, estimated to cost $15 million over 10 years, would give a benefit to cost ratio of approximately 3 to one over the same time period.

Charlotte Korte from Mesh Down Under says in addition to what looks like broken promises, they've been kept in the dark by the government and the health ministry.
