Prime Minister's McDairmid Emerging Scientist 2018 Prize-winner Dr Peng Du has developed a world-leading cutting edge non-invasive tool which records gut activity to help diagnose and treat gut problems.  His device takes clues from bio-electrical activity in the digestive tract, telling us whether or not the gut is healthy. Using a combination of experimental recording and mathematical modelling it can detect  what happens to the food we eat, including whether essential nutrients are being absorbed.

Dr Du speaks with Kathryn Ryan.
