Creepy music to get you in the Halloween mood

From Nine To Noon, 11:06 am on 31 October 2018

If you really want to scare the kids in your neighbourhood tonight, RNZ Music's Kirsten Johnstone has some recommendations...

First up, what many consider the greatest horror soundtrack of all time – the music from the 1977 horror film Suspiria directed by Dario Argento.

Goblin – an Italian prog-rock band who did soundtracks for 13 of Argento's horror movies – played Suspiria live in New Zealand in 2013.

Suspiria is set in a German ballet school which turns out to be the front for a supernatural cult.

For the soundtrack to the 2018 remake, director Luca Guadagnino enlisted none other than Radiohead's Thom Yorke. Kirsten's favourite track from this year's soundtrack is 'Unmade':

Finally, the spooky song 'Tokoloshe' recently released by Wellington singer Estère and Ruwandan-born rapper Raiza Biza is perfect for Halloween.

It's about a mythical African water sprite.
