Graeme Downes, founding member of the Verlaines, songwriter, musicologist, senior Lecturer in the Department of Music at the University of Otago joins Kathryn Ryan to talk music.

He discusses why Adele's "Hello" has been such a huge hit, and compares her with 60's pop diva Petula Clark and her big song "Downtown".
