When Brandie Stephens moved to Wellington from upstate New York in 2008, and went to prepare for her first Thanksgiving dinner in this country, she was surprised to find she couldn't buy tinned pumpkin to make pumpkin pie… so she made it from scratch. That was the beginning of her Wellington business, Dough Momma.
Dough Momma makes a range of pies to order, from the classics: apple pie and “Quay” Lime Pie… to chocolate cookie crumb filled with cream cheese peanut butter chiffon and topped with a chocolate ganache and salted peanuts.
With Thanksgiving coming up (and in honour of outgoing president and pie fan Barack Obama) Brandie shares her recipe for Sweet Potato Pie.
