Geonet wants 24/7 staffing

The acting Civil Defence Minister Gerry Brownlee admits there are lessons to be learnt about how the public was warned ahead of Monday's tsunami. The director of the Geonet monitoring service says it wants to expand to 24/7 staffing after this week's big quake. Dr Ken Gledhill says he's going to begin campaigning for the establishment of a 24/7 warning system, with a particular focus on tsunami.
