Veteran Associated Press reporter in Afghanistan, Kathy Gannon

Kathy Gannon is an AP correspondent who spent two decades reporting from Afghanistan and Pakistan. From 2009, she worked in tandem with the acclaimed German photographer, Anja Niedringhaus, and together they were the first Western journalists to embed with the Afghan army. On April 4 2013, Kathy and Anja were travelling in a convoy with the Afghan army and police when a police commander shot them both at point-blank range. Anja Niedringhaus was killed, and Kathy Gannon has spent the past year on a journey of recovery. Kathy has won numerous awards for her journalism and is the author of the book, I is for Infidel: From Holy War to Holy Terror in Afghanistan.
