09:05 Government Agencies move to establish what the asbestos exposure risk has been in Christchurch

Nine to Noon has been told that the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment is leading a multiagency group - including the Earthquake Commission, Fletcher Construction's EQR and the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet - to try to identify which houses may have have had a high risk of containing asbestos and thereby quantify how many people may have been exposed.

Fletcher Construction's CEO Graham Darlow and the Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee.

09:30 Research into enrollment "revolving door" at low-decile schools

Research just released by the Child Poverty Action Group sheds new light on the scale of the issue of children having to move between schools. The survey found decile one schools had a median roll turnover of 30 percent, while higher-decile schools had far lower turnover rates. And it says frequent moving hurts kids' education.

With Donna Wynd, the chief researcher and policy analyst for the Child Poverty Action Group and Phil Palfrey, the Principal of Manurewa East School.

10:05  Adrian Lister - modern day mammoth hunter

Professor Adrian Lister of Britain's Natural History Museum is one of the world's foremost experts on mammoths. He worked on the first scientific study of mammoth DNA, but believes there are too many technical and ethical hurdles in the way of actually cloning a mammoth.

The Natural History Museum is about to hold an exhibition devoted to the ice age giants – including the most complete woolly mammoth ever found – Baby Lyuba (pictured below middle, © International Mammoth Commitee) – who was discovered in Siberia in 2007 and is thought to have died 42,000 years ago at just one month old. Lyuba the woolly mammoth, Mammuthus primigenius, is 85cm tall and 130cm long, about the size of a large dog. The Columbian mammoth, one of the largest species of mammoth, will also be part of the exhibition (pictured below right, © Field Museum, Chicago).
