10:05 Big year interview: Dr David King
Trauma surgeon Dr David King ran the Boston Marathon in three hours and 13 minutes this year. Not long after he'd finished the race, the first of two pressure cooker bombs exploded, the second bomb detonating 13 seconds after the first, near the marathon's finish line - while thousands of people were still running. Three people were killed, more than 260 injured, and David King went straight to Massachusetts General Hospital to operate on the casualties.

A New Zealand Book of Beasts: Animals in our Culture, History and Everyday Life by Annie Potts, Philip Armstrong, Deidre Brown. Published by Auckland University Press.
10:45 The Reading: Thirty And Counting
A short story by David Hill, read by Nick Blake.
An amusing and nostalgic story about a couple's time in the UK in 1973 during the 30 days leading up to Christmas. The humour comes from the cultural divide between the relatively uptight Poms and the laid back Kiwis….and it resolves with the birth of a baby.
