Dr Margy Whalley, is the director of the Research, Development and Training Base at Pen Green Centre for Children and their Families in Corby, Northamptonshire. The centre was established in 1983 after the closure of a steel works left 43% of the local male population unemployed. The centre provided early childhood education but more importantly a range of services to support families and re-build the community including through adult education and training.
