09:05 The future of the quake-battered Christ Church cathedral hangs in the balance

The Christchurch Anglican diocese is planning a newspaper announcement on the state of the city's iconic building. The 130-year-old cathedral has already been deconsecrated to make the building safe and to retrieve valuable artefacts.

Bishop Victoria Matthews, the Anglican Bishop of Christchurch; and Canon David Morrell, former city missioner, who says the cathedral could be restored to how it used to look by using timber framing.
