16-year-old Inglewood High School student Jamie Fenton has designed a decibel machine (when she was 10 for a science fair) which is being picked up by the Foundation for the Deaf to monitor noise at preschools. The Foundation for the Deaf survey has found that the hearing of one in five children is affected by noisy play and they want to commercially develop the invention to monitor noise levels at preschools.
