10:15 Wealthy British community linking to one third world community
John Pontin, author of The Converging World, hit on a scheme where one wealthy British community links to one third world community that might produce results good for each community, and the planet.
As John sets out to make his English village a zero waste community, it is, on the face of it, just another carbon offsetting scheme. But the gains, John Pontin says, of linking his Somerset village Chew Magna, near Bristol, to Tamil Nadu, a poor rural community in Southern India, are significant both for the environment and for social justice.
