8:30 Widows of Shuhada

Our special series this week following four of the dozens of women who lost husbands in the Christchurch mosque shootings.

Tonight we hear how the widows submit to Allah's plan, even though it can be painful and confusing and we take a deep dive into Muhubo's past.

47 of the 51 killed on the mosques attacks on March 15th were male, 31 were husbands. They were shot while kneeling in prayer. In Muslim tradition these men are martyrs, shuhada, innocents who died in the purest state, a state of prayer. Memorial Park Cemetery, Bromley, Christchurch.

On Country Life the Kiwifruit harvest gets underway, there's a finishing farm for lambs, and it "Starts With the Soil" ... Growing a variety of tall plants with deeper roots and not overgrazing are two key objectives for South Otago grazing coach Siobhan Griffin. She is working with Tony and Michelle Pringle who run a farm focused on regenerative agriculture.
