Auckland's Phil Goff sets himself some big priorities

From News Special, 8:20 am on 13 October 2019

After a campaign that involved dozens of debates, hundreds of speaking engagements often marked by bitterness and personal attack, Auckland's mayor Phil Goff has been returned with nearly double the votes of his rival John Tamihere - and says that gives him a strong mandate to deliver on his promises. One of the first is to reform the Council Controlled Organisations. They're the much-criticised semi-independent companies that run a lot of the council's developments, its transport services, its water delivery and more. Mr Goff also says he wants to make climate change and infrastructure a priority.
