Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern

From News Special, 5:13 pm on 17 March 2019

The Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has confirmed this morning's harrowing news - that the number killed in the attack on two Christchurch mosques on Friday has reached 50. Another body was found as they were removed from the mosque and placed in hearses last night. She also confirmed 50 were injured and two remain critical - a four-year-old girl remains at Starship Hospital. Ms Ardern quickly turned to the latest on the offender in custody, Australian Brenton Tarrant, who's now thought to have carried out the attack alone. The three others arrested on Friday have either been charged with more minor offences or let go, and are not thought to be linked in any way to the shootings.
