In October 2012, academics and fans from around the world gathered at Limerick University in Ireland for the first ever David Bowie symposium, 'Strange Fascination', dedicated entirely to the study of Bowie's career in music, art and film. New Zealand had not one but two academics presenting at the conference - one of them was Ian Chapman, Executant Lecturer in contemporary music at the University of Otago. His specialist area of research is music iconography, and David Bowie was the subject of both his Masters thesis and his PhD thesis. This is his audio diary of the trip.
