U.S. Saxophonist Colin Stetson visited New Zealand in February 2012 as part of Bon Iver's nine piece band, but this sax-wielding virtuoso is an innovative artist in his own right. Stetson has played with an extensive list of indie bands and musicians including Tom Waits, TV On The Radio, and Arcade Fire; and Stetson's 2011 solo album 'New History Warfare Vol. 2 Judges' was an exploration of the apocalyptic sounds of the bass saxophone recorded almost entirely live, without loops or overdubs. Music 101 host Kirsten Johnstone meet Colin Stetson to talk about this physically exhausting instrument.
