Originally from New York, influential alternative metal band Helmet came to prominence at around the same time as doomed Seattle grunge flagbearers Nirvana, who they toured with several times. Helmet's major label debut album 'Meantime' in 1992 was their commercial high tide mark, selling over two million copies worldwide. The original lineup broke up back in 1998... but singer and jazz-trained lead guitarist Page Hamilton reformed the band six years later in Los Angeles. Richard Wain got Page Hamilton on the blower, discovering a driven man who's sacrificed a fair bit for his music and isn't worried about not being a household name.
