Japanese four-piece instrumental rock band Mono played a single date at The Kings Arms, Auckland in October 2011. Due to the Rugby World Cup they could only find accommodation in one of Auckland's far flung Western suburbs, New Lynn. But fortunately for lead guitarist Takaakira Goto the band's ethos is one of eternal optimism in the face of dire situations, or as he puts it: "I want to experience hope after getting through the dark things." Music Mix host Nick Atkinson attended Mono's protracted sound-check and spoke to Taka about this unique 11 year-old band.
