Over the past twenty-some years Gilles Peterson has developed a reputation as one of London's most respected musical tastemakers. As a DJ, label executive and producer he has been a proponent of acid jazz, rare funk and world music. His 'Worldwide' programme on the BBC is listened to by millions around the planet. Recently Marty Duda met up with Gilles at his Brownswood Recordings office in London (a room covered from top to bottom in rare vinyl) to talk about Peterson's latest musical adventure…a trip to Havana, Cuba to record some of the new talent emerging from the island. The resulting album is entitled Havana Cultura.
