George Clinton is one of funk's architects, whose beginnings as a songwriter at Motown lay the groundwork for him to take his music into outer space and beyond with the Parliament and its sister group, Funkadelic. Along with James Brown, Clinton is one of the most sampled musicians ever, a fact that endeared his barking-mad sounds to the hip hop generation. Homebrew's Tom Scott talked to the Atomic Dog about keeping the funk alive.
