Although one half of Auckland rock group Gramsci, Paul McLaney's always dug the solo acoustic approach, or as he calls it "finger style guitar playing". He recorded his seventh album, Edin, in Dunedin with engineer Dale Cotton, drummer Nick Gaffaney, double bass player Richie Pickard and a string section led and arranged by Graeme Downes. Richard Wain talks to Paul McLaney for The Music Mix.
