Welcome to the future. RNZ Music is delighted to present HK-Kiwi electronic artist french Concessions newest single ‘Peak’. If you loved the Akira soundtrack, this is for you.
HK- Kiwi electronic artist French Concession has developed her unique ethereal pop sound after having lived and traveled all around the world. She’s finally released her debut album after a string of successful EP releases via Ball of Wax Records (NZ), Chinabot (UK) and Reveller Records (Berlin).
French Concession has been on a roll the last couple of years, performing at the prestigious New Zealand APRA Silver Scrolls Awards 2018, and one of the biggest festivals in China - Shanghai Strawberry Music Festival 2019.
‘Peak’ is an atmospheric jam that combines Sholhmo vibes and Geinoh Yamashirogumi’s anime soundtracks (Akira). Inspired by days of youth, the song tells a story where two lovers escape the city and find love in nature.
The incredible music video takes place in an urban fantasy landscape. “Ï think this video reflects everyone’s fantasies who lives in crowded cities such as Hong Kong, and less of my own. Perhaps with the help of immersive technologies, we can at least fulfill our dreams in another reality, without so much the exploitation of others” French Concession says of the video.
