RNZ Music is proud to present the debut single and video from Tāmaki Makaurau two-piece Vox Venus.
‘Cheesy Song of Broken Hearts’ is the first single from Vox Venus’ upcoming debut EP Rise & Shine.
Vox Venus are an Auckland synth-pop duo consisting of Heather Bolton (vocals, synths, autoharp) and Hanna de Koster (drums, backing vocals).
‘Cheesy Song of Broken Hearts’ is about front-woman Heather Bolton’s experience with a long-term relationship of “unlove”, but despite its dark subject matter, the track oozes joyfulness and humour.
Recorded at Heather’s house in Auckland’s Te Henga/Bethells Beach, the song features fellow pop musician JoceeTuck on backing vocals.
The video is directed by Heather Bolton & Andrew Cowie.
