VIDEO PREMIERE: George ‘Never Had Love’

From RNZ Music, 8:00 am on 24 October 2019

RNZ Music is proud to present the latest single from Mt-Maunganui singer/songwriter George. ‘Never Had Love’ is the second single from the 2014 Smokefree Rockquest winner, after releasing ‘Vacant Cities’ in Feb.

‘Never Had Love’ is “an ode to elusive romance.” George wrote the lyrics after finding an old photo of a man inside a second-hand book: “Was this photo a keepsake? Was this someone’s beloved? What was their love like? What will be our mementos be in this new digital age, will our love be as strong?”

The song was created in-studio with producer and engineer Shannon Fowler, aka Tom Lark, and Auckland producer and psych-pop musician Merk, aka Mark Perkins.

The song’s video is directed by Cam Neate, who worked on the vid for George’s debut ‘Vacant Cities’.

Since George’s 2014 Rockquest win, she’s been travelling, making music in her Mt Maunganui studio and collaborating with other local artists.

George made her festival debut earlier this year at New Year’s Eve festival Rhythm & Vines in Gisborne, and has also performed support for Hollie Smith, Alae, Avalanche City and Tiki Taane.
