Wellington trio Mermaidens share new video ahead of live shows

From RNZ Music, 10:00 am on 16 October 2019

RNZ Music is excited to be the first to share this special live performance from indie-pop three-piece Mermaidens. ‘I Might Disappear’ was filmed at Wellington’s Worser Bay Surf Life Saving Club and comes ahead of shows in Auckland and Wellington.

Mermaidens play Auckland this Saturday 19th October and Wellington’s San Fran on Saturday 26th October, in support of their latest album Look Me In The Eye, which came out in September on Flying Nun Records.

The Wellington band have just returned to NZ following a mammoth year of touring in Europe and Australia.

“This year we've been on two tours to Europe, one to Australia and a few NZ shows in between. It's fair to say we're at one with our tiredness!” co-frontperson Gussie Larkin says.

“Some of our favourite shows were in Dijon to a few hundred Uni students (French O week is a lot more civilized than NZ!) and at a small festival in Dortmund, Germany.

“I think playing around New Zealand is going to be extra special this time and we're especially excited to play in Wellington. It's our hometown and there's so many fans who have supported us since the beginning. The Welly scene raised us!”

Mermaidens Look Me In The Eye shows:

  • Auckland - Saturday 19th October, Whammy Bar
  • Wellington - Saturday 26th October, San Fran
