Hamilton-based Rwandan rapper Raiza Biza has been making music for a while now. He’s got four albums under his belt; he’s toured New Zealand, Australia and Europe; and he’s collaborated with the likes of Estere, Melodownz and Jon Toogood’s The Adults.

Raiza Biza’s latest project is a collaboration with Melbourne-based rapper Remi. Their EP Black Hole Sun, which came out in October, was created with the help of notable Detroit producer and rapper Black Milk and features guest vocals from Melbourne-based rappers Baro and Sampa the Great.

Phodiso Dintwe spoke to Rai and Remi about the EP and what it’s like growing up African in the West.
