VIDEO PREMIERE: Marlin's Dreaming 'Mellow'

From RNZ Music, 12:00 pm on 15 October 2018

RNZ Music is proud to present the brand new video for 'Mellow', from Dunedin four-piece Marlin's Dreaming.

Marlin’s Dreaming is a young band hailing from a cold, damp flat in Hope Street, Dunedin. 'Mellow' is from their second release - the Talk on/Commic EP, which came out in September.

‘Mellow’ is a "poetic and sparkly ode to the 80’s", with a music video to match.

“The music video was a bit of a throw together, which happened to turn out quite visually exciting, thanks to director Jake Munro (who's done vids for Avantdale Bowling ClubYukon Era and more), who slaved away whilst he was travelling across the US with Soaked Oats," says the band's frontman Semisi Maiai.

“I was trying to encapsulate the essence of 80’s-90’s music videos whilst also keeping it current," says Semisi, "I really like Blam Blam Blam’s 'Don’t Fight it Marsha’ music video (as well as the song obviously). I think that music video was the biggest influence on the ideas throughout the video”

Marlin's Dreaming got together in 2017, putting out their first release, Lizard Tears only a couple of months after forming. The album gained huge success on streaming platforms worldwide and led to the band embarking on two sold-out NZ tours.

Now a year old, Marlin’s Dreaming have just finished their third NZ tour (also a sell-out) promoting their Talk on/Commic EP. The band plans to tour NZ again in January, promising to share more new music.
