VIDEO PREMIERE: 'Yeah Nah' by The Slacks

From RNZ Music, 7:59 am on 1 May 2018

The band that created the viral hit ‘Big Aroha’ – The Slacks, have a brand new single out. 'Yeah Nah' also includes Māori and English lyrics, and comes with its own Kiwiana-packed video.

The video was shot in various locations around New Plymouth including Ngamotu Beach, Back Beach and Lake Rotomanu. It’s packed with Kiwiana: beach cricket and touch rugby, BBQ, beers – specifically Taranaki Ale, stubbies, towelling hats and the very same Chevvy Impala that featured in the video clip for OMC’s classic ‘How Bizarre’.

The Slacks had a hit in 2016 with their bi-lingual song 'Big Aroha' which, thanks in part to the video that was shot in a local 4-Square, went viral online. It also proved popular with schools and kapa haka groups, with many cover versions popping up online.

The Slacks’ main focus as a band is on having a good time and not taking themselves too seriously. ‘Yeah Nah’ is a reflection of that attitude, showcasing the things the band like to surround themselves with: friends, whanau, sunshine and good times.
