Summer Jams: Julia Deans chooses her favourite summer song

From RNZ Music, 1:40 pm on 13 January 2018

Our favourite local musicians share the song that's their soundtrack to summer. Julia Deans chooses ‘Quarrel’ by Moses Sumney.

Name: Julia Deans

Goals for 2018: NY resolution/goal for 2018: i don't set NY resolutions, but i'm definitely getting my album out this year!

Summer ice block of choice: i'm more of a boysenberry icecream in a cone kinda gal.

Summer hack: always take your togs – you never know where you mind find some magical hidden beach or swimming hole.

Favourite summer jam: all of them. ALL of them!

Lol, no - favourite summer jam, as in song! Moses Sumney, Quarrel

Why? “I’ve been listening to the album … almost on repeat, daily … I just love the way this song build from beginning to end. It starts out with these heavenly vocals and I just find myself swooning the entire way through.

“It’s delicious. I don’t think I’ve heard anything that’s made me go so swoony! I get the same buzz from it I got from listening to Shuggie Otis’ Inspiration Information album … these two albums to me, give me the same sort of tingle.”
