A year ago this week Future Islands burst onto the international stage via a performance on the Late Show with David Letterman.
Their immediate acclaim was due in no small part to the unhinged, emotional and utterly captivating performance of vocalist Sam Herring, whose growling, chest beating, raptor-esq side shuffling and air punching won the Baltimore band fans, and festival slots around the world.
