1080p Collection's Richard MacFarlane
For the last year and a half, record label 1080p Collection has released a steady stream of experimental and DIY electronic music, including artists from New Zealand, Europe, Canada and the US. Each recording is released digitally and as a limited edition cassette tape.
1080p is run by Vancouver-based New Zealander Richard MacFarlane, a former music journalist who for years helped run the highly regarded music blog Rose Quartz.
Henry Oliver talked to Richard MacFarlane from 1080p’s Vancouver office about the inspiration behind the label, the joys of cassettes and the challenges of releasing new music in the digital age.
