Denise Roughan is a multi-instrumentalist who has played a central role in three Flying Nun bands: Look Blue Go Purple, The 3Ds, and Ghost Glub; as well as having a four-year tenure in The Renderers; playing bass in Will Oldham's band Palace Brothers for a tour of NZ in '97, and playing drums for a London band named Lishka. She's a new recruit to Marineville. Denise Roughan has spent the last few decades on the fringes of indie rock fame.

Kirsten Johnstone askes about her journey from playing house parties in Dunedin in the '80s, to being lauded by British music media, playing sell-out shows in the UK and USA, and touring with Pavement and Superchunk in the '90s, to her return to playing in a small indie band in Wellington.
