By 1976 the Malaysian-born singer-songwriter had won a swag of music awards and sold more records than any other NZ artist, with hits including Damn the Dam and Lovely Lady. His meteoric rise to fame ended almost as dramatically before the decade was over and he left New Zealand for Australia. But now he's planning a comeback.
