An executive at the Maori Language Commission is urging news broadcasters to keep their use of Te Reo simple because their audience, including fluent native speakers can't understand them. A marae is applauding a paper recommending an independent body to take over Housing New Zealand's plan to transfer state houses to iwi and communtiy roopu. A Ngati Porou portraitist is calling for people with Maori tattoos on their faces to take part in her lastest art series, which aims to illustrate the modern face of tangata whenua - to leave behind for future generations to see.
