Chimpanzees fight for their rights

In the United States, the first cases involving non-humans seeking legal rights have been filed. The Nonhuman Rights Project wants a New York state court to declare Tommy, a 26-year-old chimpanzee an "autonomous legal person". They say Tommy should have the right not to be imprisoned by his owner, and want him moved to a sanctuary.
