Chch City Council may have opened itself up to legal challenges

The Christchurch City Council is scrambling to get its books in order after learning its rates may have been set illegally since 2004. The Department of Internal Affairs discovered the resolutions the council has been voting on for the past nine years when striking its rates have left out the necessary wording around due dates and penalties for late payments.
