A large iwi group in the Marlborough Sounds is maintaining support for a major Salmon farm development, despite disapproval from faction of its members; Te Iwi Moriori say they are happy to co-manage resources on the Chatham Islands so long as their treaty claims are acknowledged differently from Ngati Mutunga - the other tribe on the islands; The newly-appointed head of the Ministry of Maori Development says the department could in future help other indigenous peoples around the world; A researcher says the results of a study of Maori and Pasifika youth comparing the relationship between poor sleeping habits and weight gain, could be used to tackle obesity internationally.
