Winston Peters on TPK job cuts

The Mana Party leader, Hone Harawira, says the Government is planning to gut the Maori Development Ministry, Te Puni Kokiri, of essential functions and leave it as little more than an advisory body on social issues. Te Puni Kokiri was formed in 1991 as a replacement for the Maori Affairs Department. The Maori Affairs Minister who oversaw the change was Winston Peters, then a member of the National government.
