Ombudsman under fire for treatment of overstayer complaints

Thirteen overstayers were granted residency in January this year after the Ombudsman ruled they'd been misled by the Pacific division in 2005 with promises of jobs and residency. But a lawyer acting on behalf of overstayers says a new deal between the Ombudsman and Immigration has slammed the door on complaints from dozens of equally vulnerable families.
