A member of Auckland's Independent Maori Statutory Board, is unhappy at being refused permission to present a submission to the Auckland Council's Strategy and Finance Committee, about its spending plan for the next decade being unfair on Maori; Nelson City Council is poised to become the first unitary authority in New Zealand to have a Maori ward; Te Tai Tonga MP, Rahui Katene, says if tribes aren't happy with the Marine and Coastal Area Act, the Maori Party will revisit it; The Kohanga Reo movement plans to survey the first intake of Maori children, to prove to the Government that educational qualifications don't always mean success.
