Government accused of misleading public on tobacco regulation cuts

From Morning Report, 8:51 am on 9 April 2024

The Government is being accused of misleading the public on the potential cuts to roles related to tobacco regulation.

Five tobacco related roles at the Ministry of Health, including three advisers, a principal adviser and one administrator, are set to go.

But documents sent to Vape Free Kids NZ show the principal adviser is the person in charge of the Vaping Regulatory Authority and does barely any work on tobacco.

Vape Free Kids NZ co-founder Anna Stewart spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
