Despite dairy farmers cutting costs where they can, the industry expects many of them will make a loss this season.
DairyNZ says farmers are looking at their budgets line-by-line to reduce expenditure.
But it says the milk price is falling even faster. That means the average dairy farmer could lose 20-to-50cents per kilo of milk solids they produce.
