It's been a tough few weeks for Northland conservation group Bay Bush Action.
The volunteers' efforts to wipe out pests and bring back native species such as kiwi had been paying off - until a spate of dog attacks started two weeks ago.
But, as Peter de Graaf finds, there are still reasons to be hopeful.
